SELECTED RESERVE DIRECT COMMISSION (SRDC) PROGRAM

Hello all. I served in the US Navy from 2008-2013. I've been in the workforce ever since but I'd be lying to you if I told you I did not miss all things military. With that being said, I would rather take an arm's length approach this go around and feel that the reserve component would be best suited for me now that I am married with children. I've done the deployments and like the idea of continuing to serve my country in a more esteemed as well as part-time position until they won't have me anymore. I completed my bachelors and have considered going on to complete my masters through the Post 9/11 GI Bill. Due to my education, prior service, and interest in reserves, I stumbled upon SRDC. Could anyone tell me a bit more about the program? Putting in an officer package that current Coast Guard officers deem interesting, followed by three weeks of schooling then BAM, you're an officer? Seems too good to be true. I know the selection process must be intense but I have to say I love the fact that they have a way to commissioning based off of service in a US military branch. Talk about picking the right work history! Have any of you had any experience with the program or knew of others who have? Anything helps, just browsing at this point.
